Storytelling
In chapter 11, it
was either to read books or watch movies which would determine how good or bad
it was. The movie I enjoy watching is called Get Out. This film is classified
as a horror, mystery, and thriller. The director of this film is Jordan Peele.
Peele is also famous for his comedy show called Key & Peele. The film was
released on February 24, 2017. The film grossed in approximately 253.4 million
dollars.
The summary of
this film is about an interracial couple name Chris and Rose that went to rose
parent's house for the weekend. Strange events started to happen which led up
to discover a horrifying secrete in which the family has been keeping. The
family secretes has something to do with the disappearance of black/ African Americans.
Chris which is an African American realized his girlfriend is not the person
she appears to be and finds out the evil side of her. Chris best friend has had
suspension of Chris’s estrange girlfriend Rose.
The movie started
off with this conflict between a random African American and a guy driving in a
white car. It was obvious that the African American was lost and did not know
where he was at. It seemed like he was on the wrong side of town when the white
car started to follow him. The guy that drove the white car choked the African American
until he passed out then put him in the trunk of his car then drove off into
the night. It left the audience in suspense which later in the movie they
pieced the different events together. The movie starts to become intense when
Chris becomes annoyed and suspicious of his girlfriend’s family. Chris was so
in love with his girlfriend that he stayed with her even though he knew something
was not right. Most boyfriends would have left, but he stayed because he did
not think too much about it. The conflict
began to thicken when Rose mom hypnotize him and went down from there.
The film was able to keep people
attention by the strange events that kept occurring with Rose’s family. What really
raised a red flag was that the servants of Rose’s family were African
Americans. Its 2017, why do white people still have black servants on their
land? Rose’s Family owned a huge mansion basically in the middle of nowhere. Rose
family invited some family in friends over to the house to meet Chris, but
little do Chris knows they are actually trying to debate who will have Chris. Every
time Chris would question Rose about the strange events that were happening she
would tell him not to worry about it and everything was going to be ok. There
was a point in time where was going to leave, but he didn’t want to leave Rose.
He later finds out that the servants that Rose family had was actually people
that has dating Rose. Rose told him that she never dated black men before. He
realized something was not right, but it was too late.
In the film, we
mostly got the view of Chris and his experience. We did not really get the view
from the guy that got kidnapped in the beginning of the movie which turned out
that Chris knew him from a party and he went missing a couple weeks back. He
finally met with the guy that went missing and he was not himself.
It is important
for movies and films to catch the audience attention by having a hook. The strange
events that happened in this movie only makes the audience more suspicious and
eager to want to know what happened. This movie did leave the audience in
suspense, because no one know what really happened to the guy that went missing
from the beginning.
Good summary of the movie. What are some specific elements that are addressed in the opening as identified in the text?
